How Hinge Location Works
Hinge lets you set the dating location with a map. During onboarding or later edits, you can:
- use the compass to move the pin to the device's current location;
- search for a city, neighborhood, address, or ZIP code;
- move the map pin manually;
- choose a broader or more specific location label.
Hinge says it displays the selected neighborhood name rather than an exact address. Google Maps provides the location names.
How to Change Your Hinge Location
From the profile:
- Tap the Photo icon.
- Tap the Pencil icon.
- Under My Vitals, tap Location.
- Use the compass, map, or search field.
- Press the back arrow to save.
You can also open Preferences from Discover and change My Neighborhood.
Does Hinge Track You in the Background?
Hinge's current help page says it does not automatically update the profile location by registering and recording location each time you log in.

Update the location to the destination when you genuinely plan to be there. Hinge availability differs by country, and new accounts can only set an initial location in supported countries.
