What Is a Hinge Match Note?
A Match Note is a short compatibility note attached to the matching step. Hinge suggests using it for a personal value, relationship intention, accessibility or communication need, or another fact a match should know upfront.
It is not a public prompt shown to everyone browsing the profile. Hinge says it appears after both people have liked each other. Before completing the match and starting the conversation, the recipient views the note and chooses to acknowledge it or unmatch.
That makes the note best suited to information that helps both people decide whether continuing makes sense.
How to Add a Match Note
- Tap the Profile Photo in the lower-right corner.
- Tap the Pencil icon to edit the profile.
- Scroll to Match Note.
- Write up to 255 characters.
- Mark the note as visible if you want it automatically shown to new matches.
The note applies to future matches. Hinge says existing matches should not see a Match Note added after the match was created.

- demands for an immediate phone number or off-app contact;

Direct does not need to mean hostile. “I do not drink, and bars are not my preferred first date” gives someone useful information. “No drinkers, no exceptions, do not waste my time” frames the same fact as a confrontation.
