What Are Hinge Standouts?

Hinge describes Standouts as profiles receiving a lot of attention while still fitting the viewer's preferences. The feed is a separate discovery surface accessed from the star icon.

It is not a public leaderboard and does not reveal a person's internal score. “Receiving attention” is the documented description; claims about an exact top percentage, attractiveness tier, or permanent rank are speculation.

How Standouts Works

1. Open the star icon.
2. Review the current set of Standout profiles.
3. Choose a photo or prompt.
4. Send a Rose, with an optional comment.

The feed shows a refresh timer and replaces the current set with a new group. Hinge does not promise that the same people remain available after refresh.

Why Does Standouts Use Roses?

A Rose moves the sender to the top of the recipient's Likes You screen. Since Standouts profiles are already receiving attention, the Rose gives the sender more prominent placement than an ordinary Like.

Prominent is not the same as accepted. The recipient still reviews the profile and decides whether to match.

Hinge provides one free Rose per week, and free Roses do not accumulate. Purchased Roses remain until used.

Will a Standout Appear in Discover?

It can happen. Hinge says some Standouts may appear in Discover on a later day, but it is not guaranteed.

There is therefore no reliable “wait exactly this long” strategy. If the profile is a strong fit and the Rose is worth using, send it. If not, do not spend a Rose merely because the profile might disappear.

Standouts vs. Most Compatible vs. Enhanced Recommendations

• Like the specific photo or prompt that created interest.
• Add a concise comment when you have something real to ask.
• Do not infer that a Rose purchase creates obligation.
• Treat the weekly free Rose as an option, not a quota.

Is Standouts Pay-to-Win?

Standouts creates a paid-action surface because additional Roses can be purchased. The free weekly Rose provides limited access, while ordinary Likes are not available within the feed.

That is a product-design fact, not proof that Hinge hides every desirable profile behind payment. Hinge says Standouts may later appear in Discover, and Discover continues to contain profiles meeting the user's settings.
